30 little ways to practice gratitude every day

2026-06-08 · The Grateful Bough

Gratitude is one of the best-studied, lowest-effort ways to feel a little better — and it's free. You don't need a subscription or a guru. You need small, repeatable moments.

Morning

  • Name one thing you're looking forward to before you get out of bed.
  • Write three lines in a journal with your coffee.
  • Text someone a genuine thank-you.

During the day

  • Notice one small thing that went right.
  • Thank someone specifically, not generically.
  • Pause for one deep breath before a meal.

Evening

  • Recall the best two minutes of your day.
  • Tell someone in your home one thing you appreciate about them.
  • Set tomorrow's one intention.

Pick three. Do them for a week. That's the whole 'system' — and it works precisely because it's simple and honest.
